The Warriors and Kristaps Porzingis appear to be moving in the right direction.
According to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, the two sides remain actively engaged in contract talks as Golden State attempts to retain the veteran big man in free agency.
ESPN’s Anthony Slater previously reported there was “growing momentum” toward a short-term agreement.

While nothing is finalized, Golden State and the veteran forward/center are continuing to work toward a deal that would keep him in the Bay Area.
Melton expected to test free agency
Meanwhile, veteran guard De’Anthony Melton is expected to land elsewhere this summer, according to Siegel.
Melton is widely expected to decline his $3.45 million player option and enter free agency, though a return to the Warriors hasn’t been completely ruled out.
The 28-year-old turned in one of the better offensive seasons of his career in 2025-26, averaging career highs of 12.3 points while adding 3.2 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.6 steals in 49 games, including 24 starts.
His outside shot never really came around, however, as he connected on just 29.4 percent from three after entering last season as a career 38.3 percent shooter from beyond the arc.
Warriors still looking for another guard
According to Siegel, Golden State remains in the market for additional backcourt help, particularly another playmaking guard.
The Warriors also reportedly believed they had a strong chance to land former Arizona standout Brayden Burries with the 11th overall pick in the draft after Atlanta and Dallas went in different directions at Nos. 8 and 9.
Instead, Milwaukee grabbed Burries at No. 10, forcing Golden State to pivot. The Warriors ultimately selected Yaxel Lendeborg, another prospect the organization had rated highly all along.
