Cavs signing Xavien Lee to Exhibit 10 contract

The Cavaliers are adding another young guard, at least for Summer League.

According to DraftExpress’ Jon Chepkevich, Cleveland plans to sign undrafted free agent Xaivian Lee to an Exhibit 10 contract.

Lee, 22, spent last season at Florida after beginning his college career at Princeton, where he earned All-Ivy League honors twice. He averaged 11.6 points, 4.2 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 35 games for the Gators.

While Lee struggled from beyond the arc, shooting 29.2 percent on 5.6 attempts per game, he has earned a reputation as a capable playmaker with good size in the backcourt.

An Exhibit 10 contract is a non-guaranteed training camp deal that gives teams flexibility heading into the regular season. If Lee is waived and spends at least 60 days with the Cleveland Charge, he would be eligible for a bonus.

The contract can also be converted into a two-way deal if Lee impresses during training camp or Summer League.

The Cavs selected Arkansas guard Meleek Thomas with the No. 34 overall pick on Wednesday.
